Explore deck basics
- 01
Read the room first, then choose the Explore card that changes the route, resource, or risk in front of you.
- 02
Treat food as a plan, not a number. It only becomes recovery if the route lets you roast and eat before pressure spikes.
- 03
Use Rest for a specific missing function, such as movement, access, food, or a safer next room.
- 04
Carry the next fight in your head: a useful Explore choice makes the Combat deck's first bad hand less dangerous.
Route rules, card text, and camp costs can move during Early Access. This page focuses on decisions that remain useful without claiming permanent map or card data.
Route, food, and Rest decisions
| Explore question | Good answer | Risky answer |
|---|---|---|
| Where does this route lead? | A safer room, useful resource, or boss preparation | A path that only looks good if the next draw is perfect |
| Can this food become healing? | A roast/eat line before the next dangerous fight | Ingredients that sit unusable while pressure rises |
| Should I Rest? | Only when the new hand can fix a named route problem | Resting because the current hand feels untidy |
| What reaches combat? | Health, food, and a deck with a clear job | A flashy route that leaves no survival plan |
Connect exploration to combat
The strongest Explore choice is the one that makes the next fight easier to survive. If your Combat deck lacks defense, route toward recovery or safer rooms. If it lacks damage, avoid decisions that add more delay. If Rest or Gloom pressure is already high, prefer a workable route over fishing for a perfect hand.
