The 60-second pre-boss check
- 01
Look at the combat cards you are drawing now—not the cards you hope to find later.
- 02
Keep one reliable defensive line for turns when the hand does not cooperate.
- 03
Carry a food plan: an ingredient is not healing until your current route lets you roast and eat it.
- 04
Enter with a clear finish: sustained damage, a setup turn into burst, or a small repeatable engine.
Official and gameplay footage show a camp immediately before a boss encounter and the roast/eat loop. Exact boss-specific patterns are not part of this pre-release overview.
Diagnose the way you lose
| What happens | Likely run problem | Next adjustment |
|---|---|---|
| You collapse after one poor hand | Too little defensive redundancy | Keep a second way to reduce or recover damage |
| The fight drags until resources vanish | No dependable damage plan | Remove low-impact draws and protect the cards that close |
| Food sits unusable in hand | Explore and combat plans are disconnected | Prioritize a route that lets the food become healing before the fight |
| Resting before the room hurts more than it helps | Gloom pressure is already too high | Treat another redraw as a health cost, not a free reset |
What this guide does not claim yet
The full boss roster, phase scripts, damage values, and reward tables are not treated as verified before the September 10 Early Access build is live. This page will split into named boss guides as repeatable encounters are checked against the current version.
